Japanese Government Ignores Vitamin C
In the fall of 2011 March to June, JCIT presented a study that Fukushima workers had abnormality gene expression, which may be avoided using dietary antioxidants, especially vitamin C. The data was presented in Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. Letters were sent to the government from JCIT urging them to tell the people how they could protect themselves from radiation. Unfortunately to date, the Japanese government and TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company) have ignored the recommendation.
Scientists have estimated for each megaton nuclear test in the atmosphere that there would be an extra 10,000 deaths throughout the world. One nuclear reactor contains more radioactive material than a nuclear weapon. There were 6 reactors at Fukushima not mentioning the nuclear waste and other radioactive material.
Antioxidants:
As the name suggests, free radical scavengers clean up the damaging radicals that can be produced by radiation. A common term used for free radical scavengers is antioxidants. By ionizing radiation these antioxidants replace the electrons that are stripped from molecules.
The majority of harm from ionizing radiation is caused from free radical damage that can be quenched by free electrons that antioxidants provide. There are fortunately, safe antioxidants widely available through nutritional supplements. A prime example of this is Vitamin C.
Antioxidants = Vitamin C
For anyone who is trying to keep radiation poisoning at a minimum, Vitamin C should be included in high intakes. By consuming a high Vitamin C dose, provides the body with a continual antioxidant flow within the body. Vitamin C is absorbed in the stomach where it helps to replenish the other antioxidants. When it is used up, the body gets rid of it in the urine. Most importantly, Vitamin C grabs onto radioactive heavy metal atoms and helps remove them from the body. Taking a large Vitamin C dose e.g 3,000mg taken 4 times a day (12000mg per day) would exemplify antioxidant treatment depending on personal capacity levels.
Dr. Damien Downing shortly after the disaster explained how supplements can help the body protect against radioactive fallout. More recently a review of using Vitamin C as a radio-protectant for Fukushima contamination was provided by Dr.Gert Schuitemaker.
Antioxidant supplements, especially high doses of Vitamin C can be taken by those living in areas affected by radioactive contaminations to not only help protect the health and wellbeing of future generations but also to help counteract the destructive consequences of long term low dose radiation exposure. For those that do have a possible internal or external exposure, it could be including antioxidant supplements to help maintain an optimal antioxidant reserve. This is probably applicable for everyone, considering the enormous size and oceanic spread of the Fukushima contamination.
Bombing in Nagasaki 1945
I have found whilst researching radiation an interesting piece of information. Apparently at the time of the atomic bombing in Nagasaki, Tatsuichiro Akizuki, M.D. was Director of the Department of Internal Medicine at St Francis Hosipital, Nagasaki placed all of his staff and patients on a strict diet of brown rice, miso and tamari soy soup, wakame, kombu and other seaweed, Hokkaido pumpkin and sea salt. He also prohibited the consumption of sugar and sweets which suppress the immune system. By following this diet neither staff nor patients succumbed to radiation poisoning. Where as occupants of hospitals located much further away from the blast suffered severe amounts of radiation. (Tatsuichiro Akuziki, M.D. Nagasaki 1945, London Quarter books, 1981

Spirulina For Radiation Exposure
William Bodrin in, “How to Help Support the Body’s Healing After Intense Radioactive or Radiation Exposure” explains:
…A British company, Earthrise UK, is reported to have sent shipments of spirulina tablets and spirulina powder (spirulina is a super green sea algae) to clinics in Belarus for the treatment of children suffering from radiation sickness after Chernobyl. Earthrise sent shipments to the Children of Chernobyl Committee in Minsk and Soviet physicians used the supplements in clinics in Minsk and Grodno, Belarus as well as in Kiev, Ukraine.
By taking 5 grams of spirulina a day for 45 days, the Institute of Radiation Medicine in Minsk found that the children showed enhanced immune systems and T-cell counts and reduced radioactivity.
- The spirulina treated children showed bone marrow, spinal fluid, blood cell and liver regeneration.
- Dangerously low white blood cell counts of about 1,000 (typical of leukaemia) rose to 3,000 in only 20 days.
- Urine radioactivity levels decreased by 50 percent in 20 days.

A top expert on iodine, Dr Brownstein, states that if we have adequate iodine levels before a radiation fall out then it is difficult, if not impossible for the radioactive iodine to bind in our bodies.

Organic Sulfur
Another powerful supplement for protecting us from the harmful effects of radiation that I have found in my research is said to be Organic Sulfur.
Dr. Thomas S. Lee, NMD states that,
“Sulfur reacts with radioactive mineral isotopes, turning them into harmless sulfates. This reaction occurs naturally because of the electrons that are available in sulfur’s atomic structure.

GLUTATHOINE – The Supreme Antioxidant Miracle
It is believed that high levels of glutathione is very important in the prevention of harm caused by radiation. But what is Glutathoine? It is said to be the most important antioxidants in the body.
