The Omega 3 Solution

by admin on February 22, 2012

Staying away from fried and fatty foods is a must for taking care of your body. So that is good advice and now for more secret solutions that are easy.

Most people are not including the right sources of Omega-3 into their diet and thus not getting enough healthy Omega-3’s, according to Harvard UniversityEating fish at least twice a week is recommended by the American Heart Association, as a good source of Omega-3 (make sure the fish has no mercury in it).  Mackerel, tuna, salmon and herring are all great sources of Omega-3 but swordfish or larger fish like that can contain too much mercury to make it a regular part of your fish meals.

Plants are a great source of Omega-3’s as well

Just by adding a spoonful of oil in your salad and swirling a spoonful of flaxseeds onto you morning oatmeal, will provide you with the necessary Omega-3’s.

The real benefit lies in the EPA and DHA fatty acids found in fish.  A study recently published by the Journal of the American College of Cardiology covered tens of thousands of patients – some that reached back 2 or 3 decades. This study corroborated other studies that stated fish oil is beneficial for you and could prevent heart problems.

I also find that Omega 3 taken 2-3 times daily is a huge energy boost.  I find also that it helps boost my focused brain concentration, especially in the afternoons.

Fish oil is by far the world’s best source of Omega-3 fatty acids.

Why Omega-3’s are so Essential in our Diets?

Numerous studies that have been done show Omega 3’s reduce your chance of a heart attack because they lower your “bad” cholesterol and increase your “good”.  It also boosts your mood and brain concentration, can help your eyesight and reduce overall inflammation.

Omega 3’s also can reduce the risk of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and arrhythmia (irregular heart beat). Both of these can lead to fatal heart attacks.

It’s important to note that your body can’t make Omega-3 which is why you have to obtain them in your foods.

By not receiving them in your diet, your body is deprived of essential nutrients.  In America, heart disease is the leading cause of death.  Their diet is generally laden with the likes of fried foods, refined carb’s and very little fish.  There is no need for the deterioration of your body’s health and energy if we make the wise nutritional moves and decisions like Omega-3.  It is actually not that difficult to get these essential nutrients and follow the nutrition Omega-3 recommendations of 1000mg a day.  But for those of you who are not likely to eat enough fish then take a high quality fish oil supplement.

Nowadays there are a number of supplements you can choose from; the key is to make sure the oil if purified, contains high levels of DHA and EPA which are essential for your body.  Believe it or not but not all supplements are created equal.
